So what's happening in franchising?
So what's happening in franchising?
By Nick James on October 5, 2011
It has been hard to avoid the negative economic commentary dominating our news and press this year.
You no doubt would be familiar with the abundance of global factors that have affected the world economy in 2010-2011. However in the past, such conditions have caused money people to re-align themselves more with franchising. Owning your own business is still seen as one of Australia’s better investments in securing ones financial future.
The share crash in 1987 was a major factor behind Australia’s amazing franchise boom in the late 80’s and early 90’s along with a major spike in redundancies we saw thousands of people move from employment to self employment to secure their future earning capacities and received better returns on investment by investing in themselves and their own business/ franchise.
The 2008 Global Financial Crisis (GFC) meltdown also resulted in franchising still forging ahead with strong growth in businesses franchising their business and people reinventing themselves by becoming franchise owners as franchisees.
Whilst I am not an economist, I am positive that the franchising sector will weather any storm well, as has been proven time and time again in Australia of past 20 years experiences is anything to go by. It’s interesting to note that even with the wildest media commentary, franchising in Australia remains steady and constant in its growth.
Franchise sales/ recruitment has been constant over the past couple of years, however the profile and demographic has changed. There are no doubt that federal and state governments having made it easier for business migrants to relocate to Australia has helped fuel the growth in franchising.
Many new franchise buyers are now being sourced from places like China and India. Locally the profile is more the experienced business owners who are coming across and investing and capitalising on their experiences in business ownership and senior management by buying a franchise and being part of a larger brand.
In my 20 years plus experience in franchising I have seen moments like this on many occasions and have no doubt that at Franchise Central we can help you achieve your franchise brand growth and secure quality franchisees to help add more value and financial growth to you franchise system in the years ahead.
I have learnt that anyone can sell a franchise in a boom market but where the market stabilises, those with true franchising know how and the ability to souce new markets and quality candidates get the best results. While others in Australia have been struggling to recruit franchisees our team at Franchise Central have been bucking the tread. We explore different markets, media and networks that have made our team at Franchise Central the market leaders in Australia for over 20 years.
It goes to show that when it is time to grow your franchise and find quality franchisees, you do so with experienced franchise consultants who can show you proof of successful brand expansion in Australia in a multitude of business sectors.
